Part of the reason I have been so absent from blogging is because I feel that although I am interested in health, what I define as health doesn’t necessarily match up with other health-titled blogs.
My view on “health” has evolved past the misleading idea that healthy = skinny/fit/toned/etc. Health, for me, now largely includes mental health as well. And frankly, measuring out every portion of every meal, turning down invitations to dinners and lunches I want to go to, exercising every day even when I am tired, and writing down every morsel I consume frankly subtracts from my mental health.
I also feel somewhat conflicted, because while I know I certainly have many healthy habits that are commendable (drinking lots of water, eating lots of veggies, making sure I get enough protein, exercising regularly, etc.) I also certainly have less commendable habits (fake sugar, drinking an unhealthy amount sometimes, the occasional emotional eating.. you get the point).
I want to blog because I am naturally a reflective person and writing my thoughts helps clear my mind. So I guess my point is that I finally am realizing that even if I am not perfect (and no one is), I am just a normal 21 year old
girl woman (?) who is trying to find happiness (which creates health) and who actually likes healthy food! (and ben & jerry’s..)
so I am just trying to say that I hope to make some more time for this. Because I know writing is good for my health.
